About Us

In the spring of 2002 a group of 55 olive oil producers in the western Messinia area of Greece founded a non-speculative company. The company’s title is The Group of farmers for Integrated Olive Oil Production with the brand name of Nileas. The aim of our company, according to the company statute, is the application for integrated/environmental management system   for our members’ agricultural holdings.

The foundation of Nileas constitutes an answer to;
1.The nutritional concerns raised by today’s consumers concerning the quality and safety of the products they consume daily. These concerns are of equal worry to both producer and consumer simultaneously.
2.The strain on the environment by the often pointless and thoughtless use of pesticides and fertilizers as well as unnecessary mechanical interventions that lead to soil erosion and intensify the phenomenon of land desertification.
3.The modern challenge for Greek agriculture to develop modern yet healthy working methods those stand the test of time and the demands of today’s market place.

Our Aims:

1.With the application of integrated/environmental management system we will contribute to the protection of the natural environment.
2.Our final product is free from unhealthy chemical residues.
3.The olive oil we produce and standardise has the very best sensory attributes and satisfies the most stringent criteria for quality.
4.The progressive conversion of local agricultural holdings to organic cultivation of olive trees where it is judged feasible.
5.Nileas olive oil has an affordable price in relation to its quality.

At the beginning of 2004 we also founded our own Rural Cooperative, under the same Nileas brand name, with the aim of marketing and promoting the olive oil production of our members. Our team now consists of 170 local producers with 7.000 acres of land and 125.000 olive trees. Our production for the 2007 – 2008 season is expected to be in the region of 600 tons.

The Nileas Producers Group, has been certified since 2003 with ISO 14001 for the Environmental Management System that they apply and for the 2006 with AGRO 2,1 & AGRO 2,2 for the Integrated Management System.
The operation of Integrated – Environmental Management System is technically supported by “RODAX AGRO”.
